McNair Boys Basketball Teams for the NWA League

McNair Boys Teams

If your child is on the roster below, please proceed immediately to registration.

If your child did not make the team this year, please know this is not a statement about their basketball future.  We strongly encourage you to find the best possible coach and play on a team at the most competitive level you can find locally.  More than anything else, work on the fundamentals and skills of the game, specifically ball handling, Left/Right handed layups, and shooting. AAO basketball training programs are designed for and attended by all levels of players, not limited to AAO team members.  Consider basketball training classes.  As well, our friends at the Fayetteville Boys & Girls Club provide a fine resource for recreational basketball team participation.
Here is a link to their website:
Their basketball director is: or 479-442-9242 ext. 112

No matter where you find skill development, players who want to improve, commit yourself to working hard over the next year and come out strong for your next tryout!

McNair 5th-Harlin

Harlin Trumbo

Head Coach

I was born and raised in Fayetteville, AR where I played all years and every summer since the third grade. I played all through high school when I was all conference at Shiloh Christian and KURM dream team. I have coached for the last 3 years starting with a Shiloh 7th grade team, and the last two years I have followed a providence 3rd and now 4th grade team. I believe in fundamental basketball and was privileged enough to learn the game from a great basketball mind, my dad, Trey Trumbo. I also believe basketball can be used as a tool to help young boys become young men and really grow in their maturity. I hope to instill a solid work ethic and a solid fundamental basketball knowledge into these players. I really enjoy coaching and look forward to starting out with this team.

Trey Trumbo

Head Coach

Trey is a Realtor with Lindsey & Company, located in Fayetteville, AR.  He graduated from Fayetteville High in 1975 and was the MVP of the state leading his team to the State Championship that year.  He played for the University of Arkansas from 1976-1977 and Western Kentucky University from 1979-1980, earning all-conference honors.  Trey started coaching a Special Olympic team in College, and has coached teams every year since then. He is currently serving as AAO's Director of Coaches. However, Trey’s claim to fame is not his individual accomplishments, but the coaches who mentored and poured into him, as he tries to pass that along:

Joe Kretschmar
Fayetteville High School, AR Hall of Fame Coach, won 3 state championships.

Eddie Sutton
University of Arkansas, head Hall of Fame Coach, taking 3 different teams to the Final Four.

Pat Foster
University of Arkansas, asst. Went on to be the head coach for Lamar University and University of Houston

Gene Keady
Western KY University, head Hall of Fame Coach, Big 10 Coach of the year 7 times, 2nd winningest Bit 10 coach behind Bob Knight.

Lanny Van Eman
Western KY University  Went on to be an assistant coach for Boston Celtics (Larry Bird) and Dallas Mavericks (Jason Kidd).

Dewayne Casey
Western KY University, GA Current Toronto Raptors head coach.

Trey’s goal for his team is to assist his parents to raise up great young men first; then pour basketball knowledge into them as the above coaches poured into him.
